Menstruation is a menace or threat for girls living in a country like ours where 40% of the total population are women. It is a normal vaginal bleeding for any girl with the age of 12-50, but is it really that normal when you get to know it causes severe abdominal pain, food cravings, back pain, headache and fatigue? 91% of women use cloths and some even reuse those which may cause harmful infection and rashes. Only 9% use or can afford costly sanitary pads. Due to restrictions to speak out about periods, lack of adequate knowledge is leading them towards making it a taboo. The primary education board included lessons to educate girls about menstruation where most of the teacher skip that chapter for their own insecurities. Unless a woman’s husband and parents starts normalizing and educating her with proper awareness to break the taboo, it won’t make a difference in the first place.
Our Project’s Objectives:
We are launching a campaign on educating both genders about menstruation. And we are creating awareness on breaking the taboo.
We are providing affordable sanitary napkins at the lowest price which is affordable to marginalize people.
A booth setup is made in some districts in order to give some packets of pads to them. Our motive is to increase the menstrual facilities by asking educational institutions to get separate toilets for girls and allowing them to take leave on their periods.
We are providing closed dustbins for free to every school in every villages of Bangladesh so that girls do not feel insecure to change pads in schools if needed.
